Rules
Free speech is the default. Free speech is not freedom from consequence.
Two hard lines, then everything else is fair game.
Rule 01
No misinformation.
State a claim of fact in a serious category (news, politics, science, health) that turns out to be verifiably false and the post gets a public correction: a PINNED verdict with sources, and an entry on your record.
Opinions, predictions, jokes, hot takes, satire and unpopular views don't count. Neither do gaming opinions, music takes, lifestyle posts, categories where there is no “verifiably false” to check against. Only claims of fact in serious categories get pinned.
You don't get banned for being wrong. You get a correction. You stay.
Rule 02
No illegal content.
Anything illegal under UK law gets removed and the account banned, no appeals on this one. That includes:
- Pornography of any kind
- Child sexual abuse material, reported to authorities immediately
- Direct incitement to violence or harassment campaigns
- Doxxing or sharing private personal information
- Genuinely threatening content, fraud, scams, malware
DMs follow the same rules
Both rules above apply inside direct messages too. Threats, harassment, illegal content and fraud get the same response in private as in public, the only difference is how we hear about it. Any DM you receive can be reported with one tap and lands in the moderator queue with the exact text you saw.
What's fine
Most stuff. You can:
- Hold and defend unpopular opinions
- Swear, be blunt, be rude within reason
- Talk openly about recreational drug use like weed, discussion and opinions are fine
- Criticise public figures, companies, ideas, beliefs
- Post controversial takes, hot takes, weird takes
- Disagree with the moderator
The distinction that matters
"Cannabis should be legal", that's an opinion, fine.
"Cannabis has never killed anyone", that's a claim of fact, it can be checked, and if it's wrong it gets pinned.
"Selling cannabis to my mates", that's illegal activity, gone.
Religion and belief
Beliefs aren't pinned. Religion sits on the opinion side of the line by definition, faith isn't something we can fact check. That covers all faiths the same way, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, atheism, anything else.
"God exists" / "Jesus rose from the dead" / "Mohammed was the final prophet", beliefs, protected.
"I believe the world was created in 7 days", belief framing, protected even where science disagrees.
"Evolution is fake science and never happened" stated as scientific fact, that crosses into misinformation territory, same as any other false scientific claim.
Criticism of a religion, fine, that's free speech.
Incitement to violence against a religious group, illegal under UK law, removed under Rule 02.
Repeat offences
Pins are permanent. Every pin you've ever had is listed on your record, in order, with sources. There's no way to remove a pin except by successful appeal, you can't pay to hide it, you can't age it out. The badge can come back as many times as you earn it, and bad-faith repeats trigger the ladder below.
Bad-faith behaviour
The pin system is for honest disagreement. It is not for people who treat the platform as a game. The following gets escalated through warnings, post limits, suspension, and finally a ban, not pinned:
- Repeatedly posting things you know to be false to bait pins or attention
- Coordinated brigading or sock-puppet accounts
- Flag abuse, mass-flagging or targeted reporting of a single user
- Harassment campaigns or coordinated dogpiling
- Evading pins by creating new accounts
- Spamming, scraping, or any automated content posting
If you're posting in good faith you'll never see this section apply to you. You might get a pin you can argue with. You won't get banned for being wrong.
Appeals
If you think a pin is wrong, send counter sources to the moderator, if they hold up the pin is removed and the record annotated with the reversal.
